The Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots (LAMP) was officially incorporated in Canada on June 16, 1970. The organization was begun by Reverend Les Stahlke—a Lutheran pastor who combined flying skills with a concern to provide Christian ministry to people living in remote, sparsely settled areas of northern Alberta. Most of these people were essentially without pastoral care.
